Dan's practice includes complex civil litigation and criminal defense, along with a federal relations practice involving lobbying on behalf of clients before federal representatives and agencies.

Before forming his partnership with Lee Alcott, Dan was a member and later of counsel to a prominent Syracuse law firm. Before entering the private sector, Dan served as United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York where he was the chief federal law enforcement officer for 32 of New York's 62 counties serving over 3.5 million state residents. Dan oversaw the work of 39 Assistant United States Attorneys located in Syracuse, Albany, and Binghamton.

Previously, Dan served as an Assistant United States Attorney assigned to the criminal division in Syracuse, New York and as a confidential Law Clerk for then United States District Court Judge Rosemary S. Pooler. In addition, Dan served as Acting Deputy Staff Director to the United States Senate Committee on Finance, Executive Assistant to United States Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and as a Professional Staff Member to the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

Dan also serves as a Commissioner to the New York State Commission on Public Integrity. The Commission focuses its energies to the ethic considerations of New York State lawmakers and lobbyists.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Onondaga County Bar Association and a member of the Association of Former United State Attorneys. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Thousand Island Land Trust and Save the River.

Dan and his wife Kelly live in Dewitt with their two children.
